San José, Costa Rica
the city but this is by far the best one in my opinion. This park actually used to be the airport so this is why it is so big. You can find locals working out, having picnics, taking pictures, riding bikes and so much more. This is such a beautiful park and was one of my places to sit back and relax while enjoy nature.
There are many Churches located downtown, I would highly recommend going to a few of them because they are absolutely beautiful. The country is very catholic and you will realize this in their everyday life. On Sundays most stores are closed and most everyone attends church. I highly recommend going to one of the church services because it was one of the best things I did in San José.
San José Zoo: If your looking for something cheap to do around the city and on a budget then this is place for you! The cost is 5 dollars but the only down side is the fact that it is so small. You can walk the entire zoo in about 30 minutes but the wild life in the zoo is very fascinating. Everyone at the zoo is very welcoming and will also give you a tour tell you a little about all the animals.
All around San José there are monuments of famous people who helped the country or had a impact in some way. This is very cool to read and learn about the history of Costa Rica. There is a Spanish and English translation on the monuments so don't worry if you do not speak Spanish!
The Central Market is a great place to go if you are looking to buy local Costa Rican fruit and vegetables. I love it here because everything is cheap and they have very interesting things. This is a great place to also shop for souvenirs and clothes. I could spend half the day here looking and everything, the market is relatively big and is located in the center of downtown. There are huge signs saying Central Market so it is easy to find.
